Apple planning US$1 Billion iDataCenter

According to DataCenterKnowledge apparently Apple is planning on spending some of its billion dollar cash on hand to build a US$1 billion data center on the East Coast, either in North Carolina or Virginia (as they battle to legislate the best incentive packages).

If you look in

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskImages.framework/Versions/A/Resources/

you will find a DiskImages.prefPane, which when you double click it will load it as a preference pane offering pre- and post-processing and encryption options for disk images.

Of course, as it’s in a Private Framework, you get what you deserve if you use it.

Palm Pre getting in early…

Has anyone else noticed that the Palm Pre is being released on June 6th (US$199.99 after rebate on Sprint)? Which should give them a whole 2 days of sales before Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) starts on June 8th and quite possibly a new iPhone revision is announced.

Lion Nathan ditches Blackberries for iPhones

It seems brewer Lion Nathan is switching its fleet from Blackberries to iPhones (as reported by news.com.au’s AustralianIT section).

iPhone helps Optus’ quarterly profits

Optus increase of 17.1% year over year for the last quarter was partially attributed to iPhone earnings, according to The Australian’s IT section. However their EBITDA was down 5% due to offering subsidies to attract new iPhone customers.
